Covert devices have become cheap and small enough that this is no longer a rare concern. We sweep private homes, offices, boardrooms and vehicles.
A sweep is worth doing when conversations you have had privately appear to be known to someone else, when a separation has turned hostile, or when commercially sensitive discussions seem to have leaked.
The three checks
Every bug sweep we carry out covers three distinct layers, because a device that defeats one will usually be caught by another.
- Frequency. Detecting active hidden listening devices that emit a frequency, using sophisticated equipment not available to the general public.
- Hidden cameras. Detecting concealed camera lenses that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
- Physical. Locating devices in the places they are actually hidden: light fittings, power points, smoke detectors, ornaments, furniture and the underside of vehicles.
Vehicles
Vehicle sweeps are their own category. GPS trackers with magnetic, waterproof housings can be attached to the underside of a car in seconds and report a live location continuously. If you suspect your movements are known, the car is the first place to check.
What happens if we find something
We will show you the device in place before anything is touched, so you can see exactly what was recovered and from where. What happens next is your decision, and it is worth taking advice before removing a device, because in some circumstances it is evidence.

What a sweep can and cannot tell you
A sweep establishes what is present at the time we search. It cannot prove that nothing was ever there, and it cannot tell you who placed a device unless the device itself carries that evidence.
A device that is switched off or dormant during the sweep may not be detected by frequency scanning, which is exactly why we also carry out a physical search rather than relying on equipment alone.
